Best waterproof leggings for adventurists

While researching for this website, we asked ourselves, are there waterproof leggings?

After some digging, we found that most leggings available out there are not waterproof and work best when combined with rain pants.

However, we did find a small selection of water-resistant leggings. The leggings mentioned in this article are perfect to be worn by adventurists in light rain.

Because of the small range, we also make a few suggestions for rain pants. It’s always a good idea to carry a rain pant. Especially in the mountains, the weather can suddenly turn and a hike that started under an immaculate blue sky can end with a heavy downpour.

Waterproof and water-resistant: What’s the difference?

To put it simply, water-resistant leggings are designed to keep the wearer dry for a short period. Eventually, the tightly-woven fabric will let the water seep through.

On the other hand, waterproof leggings make sure that water doesn’t seep through no matter what the climate is.

Always pay attention while you’re buying waterproof leggings as some fabrics might not be fully waterproof and you don’t want to get wet while walking or hiking.

Waterproof rating

Since these leggings are not truly waterproof, we will only judge them for their water-resistance.

These winter leggings are warm and ideal for hikes in the snow. I wore them during a long winter hike, it was 32 degrees Fahrenheit with some light snow, and I wasn’t cold.

They will work in light rain and snow but are not suited for long walks in more heavy rain, in that case, they will get wet. Other reviewers share this opinion.

The manufacturer also does not recommend wearing these during a downpour.

On rainy days, it is best to bring rain pants as a backup.

I really love my pair but since they are water-resistant but not waterproof, we give a waterproof rating of 2 out of 5.

Conclusion

This is a pair of my go-to leggings in winter. They are very comfy and warm and ideal for long winter hikes, even with some light snow.

Baleaf mentions that these leggings are also suitable for skiing but I would advise against it.

If you fall in the snow you’ll eventually feel the moisture seeping through.

Overall, these are a great choice for workouts in moderate to cold temperatures.

They too are not waterproof leggings.

Overall, these leggings are a great pair for every adventurist and sports enthusiast.

But make sure you confirm your size before ordering as many customers have faced issues with sizing.

The reinforced pads are waterproof. You can sit down on a moist bench or a wet tree to take a break but I wouldn’t sit down in a patch of snow. The other parts of the legging are water-resistant which makes them only suitable for light rain.

The pants aren’t cheap but Kris is completely sold and most reviewers agree that they are worth every penny. Thanks to the reinforced areas these leggings will last longer than most others.

These are very good technical leggings but because they’re water-resistant and not waterproof we rate the pants 2 out of 5.

Conclusion

Apart from the soft and stretchy fabric, these water-resistant leggings for men and women have strategic reinforcements to protect you against rocks and stones.

A wide waist gives a snug fit while the waist loop helps you attach gear or keep a layer close at hand.
